A Commentary on the Holy Scriptures: Ephesians is unavailable, but you can change that!

Lange’s Commentary on the Holy Scriptures has served as a standard reference for more than a century. The subtitle “Critical, Doctrinal, and Homiletical” aptly describes the three-pronged approach to the biblical text. This translated version of the German text is often considered by many to be superior to the original.

ἑπιστέλλων ώς γνησίως ἡ νωμένοις τῷ ὄντι δἰ ἐπιγνώσεως—ὅντας αὐτοὺς—ὠνόμασεν) to the contrary notwithstanding. BENGEL, who does not accept ἐν Ἐφέσῳ, renders: qui præsto sunt, referring to Acts 13:1; Rom. 13:1. But the passages cited, Acts 13:1: κατὰ τὴν οὖσαν ἐκκλησίαν, and Rom. 13:1: αἱ δὲ οὖσαι ἐξουσίαι, by the participle of εἶναι mark only present existence and validity (in the churches which are existing there at present, the powers ruling there at present),
